Place was great, we will miss it! Great Mexican food, but plenty of other choices. Something about their rice was so good.

Food was good, service was good, ambiance nice as well! Would go again! Only downfall is we were sitting outside and the bees were horrible so had to move inside however, that is something the restaurant has no control over!

Looking for a place for lunch and found the American Cafe which is a storefront restaurant. Huge menu featuring a lot of Latin specialties. Asked the owner what he recommended and stated the burgers. I tried the Buffalo Style Burger with lettuce, buffalo sauce, blue cheese. My wife chose the Fried Egg Burger with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheddar. Both were very good. If you are in Glen Cove at lunch time, you must try the American Cafe.

Came here with friends for lunch as we were looking for a new place to dine before the movies while in the area. Food and service were both good. Staff was very friendly. They serve breakfast all day. Option to sit indoors or outdoors. Plenty of choices on the menu including specials...they have soup, salad, burgers, etc. For lunch we had medium turkey burger, american burger with cheese, and fried egg burger with side of french fries and sweet potato fries to share. Food came out fairly quick - within 10 minutes of our order. Sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection! Will be back again for breakfast all day menu, lunch and dinner. Menu options are plentiful. Note: this is 4% surcharge for any debit / credit transactions. So bring cash unless you want the additional 4% charge.

My client told me he wanted burgers. So instead of giving in to a diner, I decided to try something new. We were in the area at the library. I looked on Yelp and saw American Cafe and saw that there was a variety of options of different burgers. We decided to try it. We walked in to welcoming greetings and sat down. The waiter took our orders and brought out hot, yummy corn muffins for the both of us. It was perfect. The top was crusted and the inside was soft, warm and sooo delicious. The appetizer I ordered then came out, which was a beef empanada. It was Colombian style which was why I was pulled to it. I'm Panamanian and Colombia is our neighbor so I knew they make their empanadas similar to our ls with corn. The empanada was delicious. The only problem is that the flavor was delicious but I didn't get the feel of the ground beef. It seemed like the beef was softened with the corn which was a little disappointing because I'm all for the textures lol. Our burgers came out, we both ordered the Avocado Burgers medium. They were perfect. The beef was super fresh and it wasn't over cooked. I also ordered the sweet potato fries and it was perfect, not oily but still crunchy. Id definitely go here again and will be bringing my mom along.
